That’s it. The German soccer champion is certain, as are the relegated teams. Small question marks are still behind the European Cup starters.

In the dramatic final of the Bundesliga, the decisions were made – but not all. The Bavarians celebrate the title in Cologne, the pros of 1. FC Union in Berlin make it into the Champions League. At other stages, bitter tears flow.

German champions

FC Bayern Munich. The record champions secured the title with a 2-1 win at 1. FC Köln because Borussia Dortmund couldn’t get past a 2-2 draw against FSV Mainz 05.

Champions League starter

Borussia Dortmund, FC Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, 1. FC Union Berlin. The club from the capital achieved fourth place by beating Werder Bremen 1-0.

Europa League starter

SC Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt/Bayer Leverkusen*. The Hessians secured seventh place by beating Freiburg 2-1 and have it in their own hands in which of the smaller European Cup competitions they start. A victory in the cup final against RB Leipzig would lead to the Europa League.

Conference League Starters (Playoffs)

Bayer Leverkusen/Eintracht Frankfurt*. Leverkusen lost 3-0 at VfL Bochum on Saturday, but still finished sixth – and must hope for RB Leipzig to win the cup final to qualify for the Europa League.

relegation participants

VfB Stuttgart

relegated

FC Schalke 04, Hertha BSC

*Depending on the outcome of the cup final: If Eintracht Frankfurt wins the cup, the table sixth (Bayer Leverkusen) starts in the playoffs of the Conference League. If RB Leipzig wins the cup as a Champions League participant, the table sixth starts in the Europa League, the table seventh (Eintracht Frankfurt) in the playoffs of the Conference League
