General Secretary Mario Czaja creates the image of a CDU that has little to do with Friedrich Merz. Dissatisfaction with the party leader seems to be growing.
Mario Czaja, the new general secretary of the CDU, has only attracted attention in this office because he gave by far the most boring speech at the last party conference. As it turns out, however, one does not really do Czaja justice if one deduces the content of his thoughts too quickly from the form of the performance. Because now the Secretary General has given an interview in which he sketches the remarkable picture of a modern CDU – again not very spirited in the lecture, but thoughtful in the best sense.
