Carrefour seeks to cut a thousand jobs to save money

A sharp cut in the workforce. The Carrefour distributor is considering the elimination of nearly 1,000 jobs in its headquarters in France, according to information from the letter a and of LSA. “We do not comment, we favor dialogue with the social partners”, indicated the communication of the Carrefour group to AFP on Wednesday, after the publication of articles from the specialized press.

A savings plan of 4 billion euros

On the sidelines of the group’s General Assembly on Friday, the CFDT union had indicated on Twitter that it expected “a new restructuring which is announced before the end of the year”. But the trade unions contacted by AFP on Tuesday and Wednesday have not yet been officially informed of the terms of this expected plan for “transformation of seats”, and preferred to wait for more information before officially positioning themselves.

During the presentation of its strategic plan for 2026 for the distributor, its CEO Alexandre Bompard announced a new plan for “cost savings” of 4 billion euros, including “significant reductions in the workforce in each” European seats.
