In the case of confectionery, there is sometimes a price increase of up to 60 percent, said Elvira Reuther from the board of the Nuremberg Fastnachtszug development association on request. Due to luck in disguise, too much was ordered when moving in 2020, which is why there is still enough stock this time.
The fools of various clubs also signaled to her that they wanted to throw out as many sweets as in the years before Corona, said Reuther. “Because what could be nicer than bright children’s eyes.” However, it is already clear that the move will be more expensive. For the safety of the spectators, twice as many staff will be needed this year as in 2020. The specific costs have not yet been determined.
At the carnival processions in Würzburg this year, despite increased costs, there should be as many camels as in previous years. This is only possible thanks to a generous donor, said Kay-Horst Dempewolf from the First Carnival Society Elferrat Würzburg. It will also be more expensive for security personnel and the toilet houses. The association bears the additional costs and is also supported by donations. It’s nice that citizens are committed to Franconian customs, said Dempewolf.
The carnival parade in Bayreuth is also likely to be significantly more expensive this year. Verena Horn from Bayreuth Marketing und Tourismus GmbH, which organized the move through the Upper Franconian city, announced that the costs for security and logistics had risen significantly compared to previous years. For the carnival activities in Schweinfurt, Florian Dinkel also expects that the increased prices will “definitely” make a difference.
