Many German stars have to cancel shows or entire tours this year. From Capital Bra to Samuel Koch: These celebrities are affected.

At the end of 2022, Mark Forster (40) shocked his fans by canceling his “Arena Tour” scheduled for this year. He justified the radical step by saying that after the exhausting tour in 2022 he lacked the strength for another round through German concert halls.

But Forster is not the only one who had to disappoint his supporters with canceled performances.

Samuel Cook

Actor Samuel Koch (35) had actually planned a total of 13 shows in May 2023 for his new “Weightless” tour. Now the entertainer had to announce that unfortunately only two of these shows (May 21 in Stuttgart, May 22 in Munich) can take place. The reason: Too few tickets were simply sold.

“Sometimes it’s not enough to win, even though you’ve given everything. Unfortunately, that’s how it is with ‘Schwerelos’. Due to the general explosion in costs, our production has become more and more expensive, while the viewers, for understandable reasons, keep their money together and only decide at very short notice whether buy a ticket or not,” Koch said in a disappointed statement.

Capital Bra

Germany’s most successful rapper Capital Bra (28) also recently had to announce that the organizer had completely canceled his tour scheduled for this year. So far he has kept a low profile about the background to this decision. On his Instagram page he only announced that he was “very very angry”.

He apologized to his fans as follows: “First of all, I wanted to apologize to everyone, many people don’t make it easy for you and put obstacles in our way, but no problem, we’ll build a villa out of it. […] I’ll do EVERYTHING to get us back on tour as soon as possible, Bratans, I promise!”

Beatrice Egli

As recently became known, pop singer Beatrice Egli (34) has to cancel the planned opening concert for her “Full Risk” tour in autumn 2023 in Munich. The Watson Magazine found out that the cancellation of the show planned for October 14 was due to the local promoter’s bankruptcy. According to the management, the other dates of the tour should take place as planned.

Patricia Kelly

In February, singer Patricia Kelly (53) also had to deliver bad news to her fans: Unfortunately, all dates of her “Unbreakable” tour planned for this year would have to be canceled. On Instagram she explained this cancellation hammer with the fact that too few tickets have been sold in advance.

There it said: “I hoped to the last that we could go on tour, and if it weren’t for this great financial responsibility, I would have played in front of a small audience. The difficult economic situation, the current situation for all of us, lets it not to.”

Stefanie Heinzmann

The Swiss pop and soul singer Stefanie Heinzmann (34) could not spare her followers bad news either. She announced at the end of 2022 on Instagram sad: “Unfortunately, the tour in early 2023 cannot take place, we have to cancel it. We’ve tried everything, it’s just not feasible in these times. I’m so sorry to have to disappoint you.”

Music industry in crisis

There are many reasons for all these cancellations, but mostly there are financial reasons behind them. In general, the music industry states that after the long period without concerts during the corona pandemic, ticket sales have not returned to the level before the crisis. Apart from that, ticket prices have risen significantly overall in recent years.

Another reason given by the industry for the difficult situation of concert organizers and musicians is increased costs. Exploding prices for petrol, rental cars and plane tickets often make tours no longer profitable – especially in combination with a lack of ticket sales.
