There will be one more worldwide tour and one last album – then it’s over. In the summer, however, the Canadian punks rock again in the park and on the Ring.

Canadian punk rock band Sum 41 have announced their split. “We wanted you to hear that from us first,” the musicians said in a statement: “Sum 41 will be dissolved.” The band will complete all remaining tour dates in 2023 and release a final album titled Heaven :x: Hell. Then there will be one last worldwide tour “to celebrate this”.

Being part of the band has given the musicians “some of the best moments of our lives” since 1996. You are grateful to your fans for their support. “We are excited to see what the future holds for each of us,” the statement said. “Thank you for the last 27 years of Sum 41”.

Sum 41 has a turbulent history behind it. The Canadians made their international breakthrough in 2001 with their hit “Fat Lip” and were on the verge of dying again and again in the years that followed. In 2014, lead singer Deryck Whibley was hospitalized after binge drinking with liver and kidney failure. He processed his addiction in the album “13 Voices”.

In Germany, the Canadian punk rockers can be seen at “Rock im Park” in Nuremberg (June 3rd) and “Rock am Ring” at the Nürburgring (June 4th).
