BVB clap against Ajax Amsterdam

Borussia Dortmund struggles with itself after the desperate performance against Ajax Amsterdam. With a Bayern comparison, coach Marco Rose showed what his team is still missing. At the same time, he didn’t want to talk about the lack of leading players.

BVB coach Marco Rose was completely served. In his first major test on the international stage, his team smeared completely and conceded the highest defeat in the Champions League history of Borussia Dortmund with 0: 4. At the latest after the own goal by Marco Reus in the 11th minute, the team collapsed and showed no resistance. Three more goals followed.

After the final whistle, Rose tried to explain the defeat in front of the microphones of Amazon Prime – and pointed out the lack of attitude with harsh words. For the BVB stars, the comparison with FC Bayern, which they ultimately want to compete with in the league, should have been painful. After 24 minutes it was already 0-2. “But our body language was as if it was 4-0 and we were completely out of the game.” And further: “If you are 2-0 down, then you are never satisfied. But Joshua Kimmich doesn’t wave that away, he’s really pissed off,” said Rose. “That’s the difference, in Munich there is a fire under the roof. The question is: How do you accept that? How do you react?”

Harsh criticism of the BVB professionals

That should have sat. Nevertheless, the coach tried to explain. “We have a few young players,” said Rose. “After conceding the second goal, it was a question of conviction. We at BVB have to work on that.”

The next test of strength with the strongest opponent in the group will take place on November 3rd. In the event of a further defeat against the leaders in Group C (9), the envisaged entry into the round of 16 could still be in jeopardy. Finally, the third in the table Sporting Lisbon (3) is only three points behind the table runner-up from Dortmund (6) after his victory over the last Besiktas Istanbul (0).
