The new Sony DualSense Edge controller for the PS5 has now been released.

The Sony DualSense Edge controller for PS5 has now appeared – at least in Sony’s in-house shop called PlayStation Direct. Here you can download the new, individually adaptable Pro Controller Order now for €239.99, with a limit of one controller per person due to high demand. From February 23rd, the DualSense Edge should also be available from other shops. Once he appears there, you can find him here:

What does the Sony DualSense Edge PS5 controller offer?

Additional keys: As far as the optics and the key layout are concerned, the DualSense Edge doesn’t look that different from the normal DualSense at first glance. However, it has a number of new buttons and functions to offer. From the front you can only see the two function keys, which are located below the analog sticks and take on various tasks such as adjusting the volume. There are also two new, programmable paddles on the back. There are also two sliders for the trigger locks, which you can use to fire faster in shooters, for example.

On the back of the DualSense Edge you will find the paddles as well as the sliders for the trigger stops.

configurebar: One of the biggest advantages of the DualSense Edge is its extensive configuration options. Using the menu, which you can open at any time with the function keys while playing, you can set key assignments, stick and trigger sensitivity and vibration strength and save them in different profiles. In addition, the controller comes with a number of accessories such as thumb grips and paddles in different shapes, which can also be used to adjust the feel.

Interchangeable sticks: The analog sticks of the DualSense Edge can also be easily removed and replaced. That way the whole controller isn’t over if something breaks at this point. However, a new stick currently costs €24.99 and no replacement sticks are supplied. A robust protective bag for the controller is included in the scope of delivery.

Short battery life: Also worth mentioning is the better feel thanks to the new knobs on the handles, which ensure more slip resistance. However, there are also one or two criticisms of the DualSense Edge. The biggest is probably the short battery life. In the practical test with games that use functions such as haptic feedback, we only managed 6 to 7 hours. We didn’t find the feedback from the buttons optimal either.
