Bundeswehr: Twelve injured in an accident with “Puma” tanks

During a Bundeswehr exercise near Gardelegen in Saxony-Anhalt, a serious incident involving two “Puma” armored personnel carriers occurred. Twelve soldiers were injured, one seriously. The circumstances are currently being investigated.

A serious accident occurred in the Bundeswehr combat training center near Gardelegen in Saxony-Anhalt. According to the Bundeswehr, two “Puma” infantry fighting vehicles collided during an exercise. Twelve soldiers were injured, one seriously. Apparently, the two vehicles had collided at high speed.

After the accident, first aid measures were initiated immediately. The seriously injured man was taken to hospital in a rescue helicopter. Feldjäger have now started investigating how the accident happened and the possible causes, it said.

The combat training center is the Army’s central training facility and is located on the Altmark military training area in the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide.
