Coach Sebastian Hoeneß from the Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart, who is in relegation, wishes the upcoming opponent Hertha BSC to stay in the league despite the explosive table constellation.

Coach Sebastian Hoeneß from the Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart, who is in relegation, wishes the upcoming opponent Hertha BSC to stay in the league despite the explosive table constellation.

“All in all, I certainly don’t wish Hertha to go down. But I’m at VfB now, I’m extremely happy there and we have our own goals,” said the 40-year-old before the important away game in Berlin on Saturday (3:30 p.m./ skies). “If there is a constellation that we win the game and they still stay in, I would probably welcome it.”

Hertha and VfB are fighting for important points to stay in the league. For Hoeneß, who once played for several years in the Berlin second team and whose father Dieter used to be the manager of the capital club, it is definitely a special game.

Mavropanos is out

However, Hoeneß has to do without defender Konstantinos Mavropanos. The Greek was hit on the shin in the DFB Cup semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-3). He suffered a small tear in a membrane, as Hoeneß reported. Mavropanos is also expected to miss the upcoming home game against Bayer Leverkusen on May 14, Hoeneß continued.

Defender Waldemar Anton and offensive man Tiago Tomás, who also had to be substituted against Frankfurt, should be there in Berlin. Midfielder Atakan Karazor is out due to a yellow card suspension. Hoeneß named Genki Haraguchi and Nikolas Nartey as possible alternatives for the 26-year-old.
