Hertha BSC has been relegated prematurely from the Bundesliga. In their home game against fellow competitor VfL Bochum, the Berliners only managed to draw 1-1 (0-0) after conceding a goal in injury time.

This means that the bottom of the table can no longer reach relegation place 16 on the last matchday. FC Schalke 04 takes it after a 2-2 (1-1) win against Eintracht Frankfurt and is five points ahead of Hertha.

On the other hand, SV Werder Bremen were saved with a 1-1 (0-1) win at home against 1. FC Köln and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team defeated 1. FC Union 4-2 (2-1). The Berliners missed the jump to third place due to the defeat and have to worry about the Champions League qualification after SC Freiburg won 2-0 against VfL Wolfsburg on Friday evening and in fifth place like Union has 59 points.

In the top game in the evening (6.30 p.m. / Sky), leaders FC Bayern Munich welcome third-placed RB Leipzig and can present a victory in the fight for the title with pursuer Borussia Dortmund. BVB is playing at FC Augsburg this Sunday (5.30 p.m. / DAZN).
