Greuther Fürth is relegated from the Bundesliga again. Three games before the end of the season, staying in the class is no longer possible. FC Bayern Munich secured the German championship early.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth is the first to be relegated from the Bundesliga and has to return to the second division after just one season. The Franconians lost 1: 4 (1: 2) against Bayer Leverkusen and can no longer save themselves with three remaining games.

In the relegation battle, Arminia Bielefeld also lost at the premiere of Marco Kostmann as the successor to head coach Frank Kramer and is still in 17th place in the table with the 1:3 (1:2) at 1. FC Köln. On Sunday (5.30 p.m. / DAZN) Hertha BSC and VfB Stuttgart have the chance to break away from East Westphalia in the relegation battle.

In the evening game, FC Bayern secured their tenth championship title in a row with a 3-1 home win against Borussia Dortmund. Gnabry, Lewandowski and Musiala scored for the record champions, Emre Can scored the interim goal for BVB.

Union succeeds in cup revenge

In the race for the Champions League places, RB Leipzig fell behind Leverkusen and three days after the DFB Cup semi-finals, they missed out on another win against 1. FC Union Berlin in a 1-2 (0-0) loss with two late goals. In fifth place, SC Freiburg is two points behind Leipzig after beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-3 (0-2). Eintracht Frankfurt drew 2-2 (1-1) against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim five days before the Europa League semi-final first leg at West Ham United.

Fürth has been bottom of the table since September and now mathematically without a chance of staying in the class. Jetro Willems (5th minute) brought the team of coach Stefan Leitl, who had been more stable in the second half of the season, into the lead. Patrik Schick (9th), Sardar Azmoun (18th), Paulinho (58th) and Exequiel Palacios (84th) ended the last theoretical chances of a little football fairy tale.

Kostmann on promotion: “Small shock”

The promotion from the position of goalkeeping coach was a “little shock”, admitted Bielefeld’s Kostmann before the game in Cologne. In terms of sport, the next setback followed for East Westphalia. Mark Uth (3rd), Anthony Modeste (43rd) and Jan Thielmann (86th) scored for Cologne, for Bielefeld the interim equalization through an own goal by Timo Hübers (33rd) was not enough.

In a wild final phase, Sven Michel (86th) and Kevin Behrens (89th) turned the game in Leipzig, RB had taken the lead after a weak first half through Yussuf Poulsen (46th). Union remains on course for the European Cup and is only four points behind Leipzig.

The game in Freiburg was even more eventful. At first, the Breisgauer made up for a 0:2 deficit, in added time Lars Stindl secured Gladbach a point with his goal to make it 3:3.

The Frankfurt Euro Cup heroes continue to weaken in everyday league life. Eintracht defender Evan Ndicka headed into his own goal (12′) and then into that of the guests (32′). Daichi Kamada provided the interim lead (66′) before joker Georginio Rutter equalized for TSG (78′).
