The coach is gone, several top performers are gone: there is a lot of work to be done for those responsible for sport at Borussia Mönchengladbach. There should already be a favorite coach.

Borussia Mönchengladbach needs a new coach again. A year after the separation from Adi Hütter, Daniel Farke also had to leave the Bundesliga soccer team from the Lower Rhine after just one season.

Work-intensive weeks are coming to Borussia and sports director Roland Virkus. These are the most important construction sites:

trainer search

The most important personality, which will be the main focus in the coming days, is of course the new coach. The separation from Farke had been indicated for a long time, so Borussia will be prepared for the decision. Former Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane recently emerged as the favorite to succeed Farke. Gladbach’s U23 coach Eugen Polanski, the outgoing Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner and the former Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhüttl are also considered possible candidates.

squad planning

There is a major upheaval at Borussia. The longtime captain and top performer Lars Stindl is moving to Karlsruher SC. The 34-year-old will be difficult to replace as a leading player. The losses of top scorer Marcus Thuram and left-back Ramy Bensebaini weigh heavily in sporting terms. The fact that all three are leaving Borussia for free hits the club and restricts its ability to act. A sale of midfield driver Manu Koné could bring money. Among other things, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp is said to be interested in the 22-year-old. Koné’s contract in Gladbach runs until June 30, 2025.

management

Virkus and his team could soon receive management support from Nils Schmadtke. According to information from “Kicker”, the son of the new Liverpool sports director Jörg Schmadtke should return to Borussia. The 34-year-old had already worked there as a scout. Most recently he worked for VfL Wolfsburg.

work with the team

The start of training at Borussia is scheduled for July 9th. Farke’s successor must then first get to know the team and quickly get into the substantive work. In the past season, Borussia often seemed lethargic, and often did not hold up well in games with a lot of fighting. In addition, she rarely called up her footballing potential. The problems have existed for a long time. “We’ve been playing the way we’ve been playing for two and a half years. It wasn’t up to the coach last year, it wasn’t up to the coach before, it’s not up to the coach this year,” midfielder Christoph Kramer said recently.
