Brush and kick… Kylian Mbappé came close to the red card before scoring the winning goal

Three days after the huge disappointment in Munich, PSG moved forward by winning without shining in Brest (1-2), Saturday evening in Ligue 1. Scorer in the 90th minute, the inevitable Kylian Mbappé allowed Paris, once again deprived of its dream of the Champions League, to get closer to yet another title of champion of France. But the Blues striker could (should?) never have scored the 3000th achievement of his club in the first division. Mbappé had indeed escaped the red card five minutes earlier.

While, under pressure from young Brestois Félix Lemaréchal, he had just lost the ball recovered by Haris Belkebla, the captain of PSG put a brush in the middle of Brest. He fell and grabbed hold of Mbappé’s left foot. The latter then put, from the right, a small kick to the Algerian international, still on the ground.

The gesture, committed under the eyes of referee Marc Bollengier, only earned the French international a simple warning. Belkebla, who rebelled, also took a yellow card. After putting his hand to his headset, Mr. Bollengier finally did not go to consult the VAR control screen to review the action, which could have cost the Parisian dearly.

The questions of Brestois Lees-Melou

“I have the live images, I see a kick, reacted Pierre Lees-Melou, the Brest captain, on Canal +. Afterwards, we are not going to hide behind that, we are not going to say that we lost because of that. But I would like to know if all the players who would do that would have the same sanction… That’s all I would like to know. I will not start a controversy, because we will still say that we cry about the arbitration. »

Mbappé was therefore able to stay on the field to score, shortly after the disputed action, the winning goal for PSG. And deprive the Finistère club, 15th in the championship, of a point which could weigh very heavily in the race to maintain it at the end of the season.
