A little tour in politics and then go. Brune Poirson had announced last week that she was giving up her seat as MP for Vaucluse to “look to other horizons”. First horizon in sight: the French hotel giant Accor. The group announced in a press release on Thursday the appointment of the former Secretary of State for the Ecological Transition to the post of Director of Sustainable Development, as of May 5, 2021.

Brune Poirson, 38, “will report directly to Sébastien Bazin”, the CEO of the hotel giant, and “becomes a member of the executive committee” of the company where she will be responsible for “defining, leading and monitoring commitments , the strategy and the deployment of the Group’s action plans in terms of sustainable development ”.

Poirson no longer wants to be in politics “formally”

Secretary of State for the Ecological Transition from 2017 to July 2020, the graduate of the London School of Economics and the Kennedy School at Harvard mainly supported the law against waste and for the circular economy, adopted in early 2020.

She explained to AFP at the beginning of April that she “no longer formally” play politics and “pass the baton” to her deputy Adrien Morenas in the National Assembly. He had already replaced her when she was a member of the government. Previously with the French Development Agency and Veolia in India in particular, she said she wanted “to continue to carry, in other forms, a concrete fight without giving up in favor of the ecological and solidarity transition”.

“With the arrival of Brune Poirson, I hope that we will be able to amplify our commitments in terms of preserving the environment, give new impetus to our actions in favor of the communities in which we operate and reach out, wherever we are. we are present, the strength of our convictions and our actions, ”responded Sébastien Bazin, CEO of a group which also includes a former President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, on its board of directors.
