Brenner inflow: Aßlinger citizens’ initiative welcomes the choice of route – Ebersberg

The railway had received a lot of criticism in the past week for the selection of the route for the northern access to the Brenner, now there are also positive voices. The citizens’ initiative “Protects Aßling and the Atteltal” points out in a press release that the selection of the Limone main route protects the landscape conservation area and the Attelleiten FFH area and the densely populated bottleneck at the Aßlinger train station is avoided. “This is welcomed by us and hundreds of Aßlinger citizens who have signed our position paper,” writes Irene Gebhard for the citizens’ initiative. Some important key objectives of the citizens’ initiative would be met.

Nevertheless, this choice of route would cause great concern in other places. “With the aim of ensuring that residents and the landscape are optimally protected, our citizens’ initiative is now promoting route optimization in the further course of planning,” the press release continues. These are, for example, higher tunnel shares at sensitive points and maximum active noise protection where tunneling is not technically possible. These demands would also correspond to the coalition agreement of the Bavarian state government, which states: “In the case of an expansion, we want maximum resident friendliness, i.e. noise and landscape protection, primarily through a largely underground route.”

The selected route had been heavily criticized last week, mainly because it leads through largely intact farmland. It runs from Ostermünchen directly past Niclasreuth and Dorfen before the new tracks disappear in a tunnel at Lorenzenberg. This ends at Hamberg, from where the route via Schammach and Taglaching near Kirchseeon is rejoined with the existing route.
