STORY: These are images of the destruction that were shown to the press during a tour of Brasilia on Monday. In the Brazilian capital, thousands of suspected Bolsonaro supporters stormed the Congress building, the Supreme Court and the Presidential Palace on Sunday, causing havoc. According to media reports, the security forces took several hours to regain control of the situation. The situation remains tense and a police presence demonstratively gathered in front of a camp of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro on Monday. The heavily armed police officers, many of them on horseback, stood in front of the Bolsonaro supporters’ protest camp in front of the army headquarters. Bolsonaro lost the election to leftist Lula in October. His term of office ended at the turn of the year. To this day he has not admitted his defeat.
