Man injures regional train passengers with ‘axe-like object’
In Brandenburg, a 37-year-old attacked and injured passengers on a regional train. The police were able to arrest him in Guben.
A 37-year-old man threatened passengers on a regional train from Cottbus to Frankfurt (Oder) on Friday afternoon and injured a young person with an ax-like object. This was reported by a spokesman for the South Police Department based on initial findings. The police stopped the train at the train station in Guben (Spree-Neisse district) and arrested the suspect, who was a Polish citizen.
A 17-year-old on the train was probably seriously injured by the man. The teenager was taken to the hospital. According to the first findings, there is no danger to life, said the spokesman. So far, the police have not been able to provide any further information about the background and the course of the crime.

The man is said to have walked through several wagons of the regional train. The police could not say where he boarded. According to current knowledge, alcohol or drugs were not involved in the suspect. The police spokesman could not provide any information on the motive. The arrested man first came to a police inspection. The investigators secured clues in the afternoon and interviewed witnesses.
