Just about a year to wait: The release date for Brad Pitt’s film about Formula 1 has now been set.

Start signal for Brad Pitt (60): Apple TV+ has announced when his film about Formula 1 will be released in cinemas. In Germany, it will be on June 26, 2025. In the USA, it will start one day later. Apple has entered into a cooperation with the distribution company Warner Bros. for the cinema release. The streaming service also announced this via a press release.

It is not yet known how long the racing spectacle will be shown in cinemas before it starts streaming. According to “The Hollywood Reporter” it is at least 30 days. Apple is generally more generous in this regard than its competitor Netflix, which only allows its original productions a narrow window of time in cinemas. In addition to the run in “normal” cinemas, Apple also promises an evaluation in IMAX theatres.

No title yet, but many actors known

A release date has been set, but the film still doesn’t have a title. Apple hasn’t even announced a working title, only that it’s a Formula 1 film. The names “Apex” or “Formula One” are circulating online, but these aren’t official.

Unlike the title, many of the actors have already been confirmed. The lead role alongside Brad Pitt is played by Damson Idris (32). The Brit plays an aspiring racing driver who is mentored by Pitt’s character. The owner of their team is played by Javier Bardem (55). “Outlander” star Tobias Menzies (50) will take on an as yet unknown role. The female lead goes to Kerry Condon (41). The Irishwoman was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in “The Banshees of Inisherin”.

The untitled film is directed by Joseph Kosinski (50), who is already responsible for the aviation hit “Top Gun: Maverick”. Star producer Jerry Bruckheimer (80), also “Top Gun: Maverick”, is pulling the strings in the background. Brad Pitt, Formula 1 itself and record world champion Lewis Hamilton (39) also appear as producers. The film is shot on real race tracks, scenes were shot on the sidelines of real Formula 1 races. Brad Pitt himself sat in the cockpit of a converted car.
