Bottlenecks in medicines: Lauterbach is right – economy

The Minister of Health wants to increase the profits of the pharmaceutical industry so that more medicines are available. That sounds contradictory, but it makes sense.

If there is a problem to be solved, the political establishment has two all-purpose weapons. One is the formation of a working group, alternatively also called “Commission”, “Expert Council” or “Expert Panel”. The other is the money-on-the-problem tactic. In view of the tense supply situation for many important medicines, the Federal Minister of Health has now opted for the second variant. Karl Lauterbach is willing to partially multiply the profit margins of generic manufacturers – and he’s right.
