Boris Palmer apparently wants to run for Free Voters in local elections – politics

The mayor of Tübingen, Boris Palmer, apparently wants to run for the Free Voters in the Baden-Württemberg local elections next June. The parliamentary group leader of the Free Voters (FW), Thomas Hölsch, confirmed to SWRthat there have been several discussions with Palmer, who has the desire to become active at the local level for the FW faction in the district council. Palmer himself did not want to comment to SWR. According to SWR, he referred to a press conference on Monday in the Tübingen district office.

“We are honored that Palmer sees us as a haven for his political activities,” said the FW parliamentary group leader Mirror. With Palmer as a driving force, Hölsch hopes that the Free Voters will become the strongest force in the Tübingen district council in the future. So far it’s the Greens.

Palmer has been mayor of Tübingen since 2007. He was repeatedly criticized and faced accusations of racism. He recently took a break from politics and left the Green Party in the summer.
