According to a statement from the public prosecutor’s office in Thuringia, charges are brought against Björn Höcke, the Thuringian faction leader of the AfD. It’s about Nazi vocabulary and the use of corresponding symbols.

Charges have been brought against Thuringia’s AfD faction leader Björn Höcke for using Nazi vocabulary. The public prosecutor’s office in Halle an der Saale said on Monday that it was about Höcke’s statements at an AfD election campaign event two years ago in Merseburg in Saxony-Anhalt. He is said to have used the banned slogan of the Sturmabteilung (SA) of the National Socialist NSDAP “Everything for Germany” in front of an audience of around 250 people.

According to the investigators, the suspect knew the origin and meaning of this expression. Höcke therefore denied the criminal relevance of his statement through his defense.

Björn Höcke was stripped of his immunity

The responsible public prosecutor’s office in Halle has accused the AfD politician, who is also the head of his party in Thuringia, of publicly using the license plates of a former National Socialist organization. The charges were brought before the Great Criminal Court of the Halle Regional Court.

In April, the judiciary committee in the Thuringian state parliament extended the lifting of Höcke’s immunity as a member of the state parliament, paving the way for indictments.
