Days before the violence between Israel and Hamas began, Joe Biden’s government approved an arms sale to the Jewish state for $ 735 million,
US Congressional sources told Reuters, confirming information from Washington post.

According to these same sources, the agreement was approved by the US Congress on May 5, a few days before the start of violence between Israel and Hamas in power in the Gaza Strip.

Washington rejects statement calling for “an end to violence”

Since the start of this new round of violence on May 10, at least 222 people, the vast majority Palestinians, have been killed. The UN Security Council is due to meet for a fourth time urgently on Tuesday, while the United States still refuses the adoption of a declaration calling for “an end to the violence”.

US President Joe Biden, accused by his camp of lack of firmness vis-à-vis Israel, on Monday expressed his support for a “ceasefire” in a new telephone interview with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. If Joe Biden reaffirmed “the right of Israel to defend itself”, he also, during this exchange, “encouraged” the Hebrew state to “make all possible efforts to ensure the protection of innocent civilians”, further affirms the feedback.
