Between seizure of the prosecution and reporting to justice, the Region and EELV go blow for blow

The next plenary assembly of the Regional Council promises to be more than tense. On the eve of the meeting, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region chaired by Laurent Wauquiez (LR) announced this Wednesday evening that it was going to seize the Lyon public prosecutor’s office in order to alert it to the expenses incurred by the EELV group in the implementation of his right to training.

According to a report by the General Directorate of Regional Services, environmentalists have paid more than 145,000 euros – more than the sums set by the General Code of Local Authorities – to the organization Cedis Formation based in Montreuil, since the start of the mandate. The problem: Olivier Longeon, EELV regional adviser of the Loire “appears in the workforce of this training organization” from which he receives remuneration, supports the Region.

In addition, the community says it wonders “about the reality of the training followed” by Fabienne Grébert – president of the EELV group in the Region – on August 23, 2022 in Grenoble. That day, “the elected official officially entered the registers of the organization” to follow training on the implementation of an energy sobriety plan in the territories. However, she “attended at the same time the official welcoming ceremony of the new prefect of Haute-Savoie in Annecy”, underlines the Region again indicating that it was also going to seize the parquet floor of Lyon on this subject.

This announcement, which looks like a settling of scores, comes a few days after the decision of environmentalists to take legal action following the revelations of Mediapart on the sumptuous dinners of Laurent Wauquiez. Believing that these evenings had never been presented or voted on in the regional council and that they were financed with public money, the Greens asked the Lyon prosecutor to shed light on all these expenses.
