Bette Midler (78) wants to get married again – if only in the movies. In “The Fabulous Four” the showbiz veteran plays a widow who wants to walk down the aisle one more time – just two months after the death of her husband. For the wedding she enlists her three best friends from college as bridesmaids. They have to get together again for the trip to the wedding in Key West, Florida. Now the The first trailer for the comedy has been released.

The teaser promises plenty of giggle potential for a female audience, which the film is clearly aimed at. There are not only jokes about marijuana, but also about vaginal balls. Here, these are not only used for pelvic floor exercises or other vibrating activities. A bicycle thief is caught using a ball converted into a slingshot. The not-so-young ladies are active on TikTok and ride around on a beer bike during their hen party.

Strong cast including Susan Sarandon

A top-class cast plays Bette Midler’s bridesmaids. Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (77) plays the single Lou, who is portrayed in the trailer as a lonely cat lady. “Will & Grace” star Megan Mullally (65) plays the marijuana-consuming Alice. Sheryl Lee Ralph (65), currently in front of the camera for the acclaimed comedy series “Abbott Elementary”, plays Kitty, who once stole the man from Bette Midler’s character Marilyn. Ralph replaced the originally planned Sissy Spacek (74), who had to cancel due to scheduling problems.

In the United States, “The Fabulous Four” is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024. It is not yet known whether and when the film will come to Germany.

In real life, Bette Midler has been married to the American actor and performance artist Martin von Haselberg (75) since 1986. The couple has a daughter, Sophie von Haselberg (37), who is also an actress.
