Summer time is harvest time. Strawberries come first, they ripen from the end of May to July, followed by currants, raspberries and blackberries. In Munich, you can not only buy strawberries in supermarkets or fruit shops, but also pick them yourself. An overview of the best strawberry fields.
Seven fields in and around Munich
court rider operates seven strawberry fields in and around Munich, the largest is in Lochhausen. There you can pick different types of fruit and vegetables: not only strawberries, but also, if the time is right, raspberries, cherries, cucumbers and tomatoes, among others. In Lochhausen, Johanneskirchen and Feldmoching you can also visit the Hofreiter berry cafés, where you can choose from homemade berry jam, pancakes or fresh herb spreads from the herb bed. From July, when the corn is taller than the children, the corn labyrinths open in Lochhausen and Johanneskirchen.

In the south-east of Munich
In Perlach, the field loads from Strawberry Lang, who plant selected aromatic varieties in the region, to pick themselves. There are other strawberry fields in Putzbrunn, Taufkirchen and in the district of Ebersberg, and a daily picking service has been set up for those in a hurry. There are also flowers to cut yourself, in June, for example, it’s the turn of peonies.

In the west of Munich
On her farm in the west of Munich, she builds Wolf family strawberries, apples, pears and asparagus. You can also pick strawberries and apples in the fields yourself. The Wolf family has a long experience with strawberries. The first field with strawberries to pick yourself was opened in Ebersried in 1973: Since then, the family business has experimented a lot, but the strawberry fields stayed.

Storz operates several strawberry fields in and around Munich, for example in Obersendling on Wolfratshauser Straße or in the districts of Starnberg and Landsberg am Lech. The company was founded 100 years ago, and strawberries were soon added to the range. If you don’t want to bend down, there are also stalls in some fields where you can get picked strawberries.

On the historical Rothschwaige estate In Karlsfeld, between Munich and Dachau, you can pick strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and currants yourself or buy them already picked, true to the motto: They simply taste best fresh from the field. In addition to the picked berries, products from the region such as fruit, vegetables and eggs, homemade jams and cake bases are also on offer. The family business has more than enough experience: it was founded more than 100 years ago.
