Berlin: Selenskyj’s thanks “for every saved human life”

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj meets the Federal President and the Federal Chancellor in Berlin. After the delivery of money and weapons, the tense German-Ukrainian relationship almost seems to have turned into a friendship. Nevertheless, a federal minister has a clear answer to a question: shaking his head.

It is 11:43 a.m. on Sunday morning in Berlin. You might have to take a moment to appreciate this special moment: 444 days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, whose goal was not only to conquer it but probably also to get rid of the president in Kiev, Volodymyr Zelenskyi is standing in the foyer unscathed of the chancellery. The Ukrainian President thanks the Germans “for your help, for every human life saved”. You have to be careful with that term, but even if it’s not a historical moment, it’s at least a very touching one.
