Berlin jazz quartet plays in Oberhaching – district of Munich

Torsten Zwingenberger is certainly one of the most spectacular jazz drummers in Germany. The native of Hamburg, who also regularly performs in a duo with his brother – the boogie-woogie pianist Axel Zwingenberger – impresses with his casual elegance and amazes with his technique: he plays up to five foot pedals simultaneously and sometimes uses three drumsticks at the same time. On Thursday, October 20, he will come to Oberhaching with an ensemble of renowned Berlin jazz musicians and will play in the Bürgersaal: Das Torsten Zwingenberger 4tet, which consists of saxophonist Patrick Braun, pianist Kenneth Berkel and bassist Carmelo Leotta, will come up with a mix of different styles: The quartet plays modern swing, hard bop, cool jazz, but also Brazilian and funky soul jazz. The pieces are classics from the American Songbook and original compositions by the band members. The drummer Torsten Zwingenberger, who now lives in Berlin, is one of the busiest personalities on the German jazz scene. More than a hundred concerts a year, international tours and numerous projects as a band leader and as a sideman are on the agenda of the innovative drummer. But the musical biography of the other three protagonists also promises jazz at its finest. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are over www.oberhaching.de or in the library or in the town hall.
