After the travel chaos at the weekend, Lufthansa recommends planning “more time than usual” at the capital city airport BER. This means that a flight to Munich would take longer than the train journey.
After the chaotic conditions at the capital’s airport BER last weekend, Lufthansa recommends its passengers to be at the airport four hours before departure this week.
“Due to the current situation at BER, we asked our guests to plan more time than usual at the airport,” Lufthansa announced on Tuesday. The “Berliner Morgenpost” had previously reported. Those who follow the recommendation are likely to travel longer for a flight to Munich than by train. Their ICE sprinters usually need a little under four hours from the capital to Munich and vice versa.
Lufthansa: Clearance is currently running smoothly
Due to staff shortages and more complex check-ins in the pandemic, there were long waiting times in front of the counters at BER at the weekend. Some passengers missed their flights. At the beginning of the week on Monday, the situation had relaxed again, according to the airport.
Also the Lufthansa announced on Tuesday that processing at the counters was going smoothly again. The airline also called on its customers to check-in online and to have their travel documents checked digitally in advance.
