A doctor from Passau has been charged with issuing mask certificates that are apparently medically unfounded. The gynecologist had become known nationwide as an opponent of the corona measures.
He is one of the better-known opponents of the measures against the corona pandemic, appeared at demonstrations and in videos. Now the Passau gynecologist Ronald Weikl has to answer in court for issuing incorrect health certificates. So far, six dates have been set from February 23, 2022 for the process before the lay judge at the Passau District Court. 22 witnesses are invited.
Imprisonment and ban on the profession are threatened
The Passau public prosecutor’s office accuses Weikl of having issued medical certificates in 95 cases in the period from June to November 2020, with which, for medical reasons, he is exempt from the obligation to wear a mouth and nose cover and from the disinfection of hands with disinfectants. The certificates were drawn up without prior examination and assessment. The doctor had opposite that BR stated that he would issue the certificates if patients reported, for example, circulatory problems or psychological problems.
Weikl knew that the certificates were intended to be presented to school authorities or the police, according to the prosecutor. At most, he faces two years imprisonment for this. In addition, the public prosecutor’s office applied for an order to be banned from practicing the profession, since the certificates had been issued under abuse of the profession and in gross violation of the obligations associated with it.
Vice-chairman of a well-known association
Weikl is the deputy chairman of the association “Doctors and Scientists for Health, Freedom and Democracy” (MWGFD), and his practice is indicated as the official headquarters of the association. He is not the first club member who has come into conflict with the law because of his activities against the Corona measures: For example, the former press spokesman Stefan Homburg has received a penalty warrant for insulting a mask advocate.
The investigations against MWGFD chairman Sucharit Bhakdi for sedition were discontinued by the public prosecutor in Kiel. However, one of the complainants lodged a complaint against this decision.
The association was noticed several times by spreading false information about the corona pandemic. He recently asked for legally nonsensical “liability notices” to be sent to doctors, among others, in order to dissuade them from being vaccinated against the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
Just a few months after it was founded, the MWGFD’s non-profit status was withdrawn because the association does not promote its statutory purposes and also pursues originally political purposes – a decision recently made by Federal Fiscal Court has been confirmed.
