A beaver was killed in Swabia with an illegal snap trap. Anglers found the dead animal on Saturday on the bank of a pond in Deisenhausen (Günzburg district), as the police announced on Sunday. The officers are investigating a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. There was initially no evidence of a perpetrator.
In the past few weeks, several killed beavers have been found in Bavaria. According to the Federal Nature Conservation Act, the rodent is one of the strictly protected species.
