The public prosecutor’s office has obtained a penalty order against a chief physician at the Bayreuth Clinic for incitement to hatred and the use of symbols belonging to unconstitutional organizations. As the senior public prosecutor Martin Dippold confirmed, the chief physician has lodged an objection to the penalty order in the amount of 140 daily rates. The trial should therefore take place next week at the Bayreuth district court. 140 daily rates are considered a not insignificant penalty. At this level, convicts are considered to have had a criminal record.
As the spokesman for the Bayreuth district court, Bernhard Böxler, explained on request, the doctor was accused of “actively adding several videos to two online accounts”. These videos are said to be “right-wing content”. According to Böxler, one could also speak of “Nazi propaganda,” which the doctor was accused of spreading.
This can also be read from a statement by the Bayreuth Clinic. “Due to the occasion,” the clinic declares that it will “do all it can for a cosmopolitan, tolerant society.” Furthermore, Christian Stumpf, spokesman for the “clinic directors of Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH” on their website: “We affirm the equal treatment of all people, regardless of their origin, religion, diversity and sexual orientation.” “Radical and anti-constitutional statements of any form” are also strictly rejected. According to Stumpf, “positive cooperation” in the hospital and in society can only succeed “if interpersonal respect and tolerance for others” form the basis of action.
In the event of a conviction, an announcement by the clinic could have consequences for the doctor, according to which “violations of these principles would not be accepted” and “certainly no place in the Bayreuth Clinic”. According to the court spokesman, the hearing is scheduled for June 14.
