Bavaria: Three other suspects in mask affair – Bavaria

There are three other suspects in the criminal investigation into the mask affair involving MPs Alfred Sauter and Georg Nüßlein. As the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office reported on Wednesday, these are not mandate holders. It is about the side aspect of infidelity, said the Chief Public Prosecutor Klaus Ruhland. Details of the allegations were not given. The total number of accused has increased from five to eight.

The member of the state parliament and former Bavarian Justice Minister Sauter (CSU) and the member of the Bundestag Nüßlein have been at the center of the investigation for months, among other things because of the initial suspicion of bribery and bribery of elected officials.

Nüßlein has since resigned from the CSU, Sauter is leaving his party offices. Both reject the allegations. It’s about commissions for trading in corona protective masks, which the politicians are said to have collected.

Several opposition parties in the state parliament want to present their catalog of questions to an investigative committee in the Maximilianeum this Thursday because of this and other allegations in connection with the purchases of masks by the authorities.
