Explosives may have been discovered in a residential building in Nuremberg. The police have cordoned off a large area and are evacuating residents.

Due to a possible explosive device in an apartment building, Several houses in Nuremberg were evacuated. The area and the street around the scene were cordoned off, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday. The police asked people to avoid the area. The police did not initially provide any further information about the incident.

A bailiff discovered the object during a forced eviction in the apartment building and then took it out onto the street, police said. That is where the object is now. Explosives experts from the Bavarian State Office of Criminal Investigation were called in. They were expected to arrive at the scene in the course of the afternoon.
