That was quite a thing when Markus Söder said in January 2018 that ten years were enough for a prime minister. At the time, he wasn’t even in office, but he already announced that he would resign in 2028 if he was elected by then. “What you can’t do in ten years is no longer possible later,” said Söder in Kloster Banz. It should be a gesture of humility and a sign that there is a politician here who does not cling to power, unlike others.
