Bavaria: Police secure weapons from suspected “Reich citizens” – Bavaria

Police officers have disarmed a suspected “Reich citizen” in Lower Bavaria. According to the police, ten long guns and three short guns and around 3,000 rounds of ammunition were found on the man from the western district of Passau on Thursday. The searches of the 48-year-old’s apartment and workplace came about because the Passau district office revoked the man’s gun license because of his alleged proximity to the “Reichsbürger” scene.

So far, the man had legally owned the firearms, the police said. However, since he was also unable to produce a permit for all of the ammunition, according to the information, criminal proceedings under the Weapons Act are to be initiated anyway.

The so-called Reich citizens reject the Federal Republic, the state administration in Germany and the judiciary in general. For this reason, the authorities have been withdrawing gun licenses from members of this movement for years. A few weeks ago there was a major raid against “Reich citizens” who, according to the investigators, wanted to overthrow the political system of the Federal Republic. The investigators see the group as a terrorist organization.
