Bavaria: Peaceful days between Christmas and New Year – Bavaria

No external audits, no enforcement measures: the “Christmas peace” will apply to Bavaria’s tax authorities from next week. From December 22nd up to and including the New Year, the employees of the Bavarian tax administration will again refrain from measures that may be considered inappropriate during the Christmas season, the Bavarian Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday in Munich. Individual exceptions would only be made if, for example, tax losses had to be avoided due to the impending statute of limitations. “Good traditions are important – especially in these very challenging times for everyone,” said Bavarian Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU). The citizens should not be burdened with measures that would be perceived as inappropriate in the “quiet time”, said Füracker. This practice has proven itself and has contributed to a good relationship between citizens and administration for years.
