Once he was even as King Ludwig at the carnival in Franconia. And he really has nothing against the Wittelsbachs, the former ruling family of Bavaria, which is important for Ludwig Hartmann to emphasize. And yet the Greens parliamentary group leader asks whether this privilege is still up-to-date: the fact that the Wittelsbachers still receive many millions of euros every year from a foundation set up by the state, over which it has little control and about which the public knows even less. “The foundation has fallen out of time,” says Hartmann.
