Bavaria: Man hit by carousel at church fair and fatally injured – Bavaria

A 31-year-old man was trapped on a carousel in Fürth, Bavaria, and later died in hospital. He apparently wanted to get rid of a shoe that a passenger had lost.

A man was trapped on a carousel at a church fair in Fürth, Bavaria, and later died in hospital. According to police, the 31-year-old was standing next to the control box of the ride on Sunday evening, which rotates in a circle from top to bottom during the ride. One of the passengers lost a shoe during the ride. The man then climbed onto the chassis of the carousel while it was moving to get the shoe out of the way.

He was hit by the carousel and trapped between the ground and the chassis. After operations were stopped, first responders freed the man. He was resuscitated on site and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died there a short time later from his injuries. An investigation was launched against the ride operator on suspicion of negligent homicide.
