Bavaria lifts mask requirements as of January 31 – Bavaria

Bavaria will abolish the mask requirements that still exist under state law. This was announced by the Bavarian Ministry of Health in a press release on Thursday. The reason for this is the “relaxation in the corona situation”, which is why the obligation to wear a mask would be deleted in the future when the Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance is due to be extended.

According to Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU), after January 31, employees in medical practices, other outpatient medical facilities and employees in communal accommodation will no longer have to wear masks.

However, the minister pointed out that due to federal regulations, FFP2 mask requirements in hospitals and care facilities and for patients and visitors to medical practices will continue to apply until April 7, 2023. Holetschek calls on the federal government to suspend the federal mask requirement in the healthcare sector earlier.

The FFP2 mask requirement in long-distance transport falls on February 2, also earlier than planned.
