The FC Bayern basketball players have to wait for their final opponent. Alba Berlin wins the fourth game in Chemnitz thanks to a strong final spurt. Now it’s time for the showdown.

The basketball players of Alba Berlin averted the threatened end of the season in the semifinals of the German championship and forced a fifth game. The Berliners won the fourth playoff game against the Niners Chemnitz in front of 5,000 spectators with 96:85 (43:51).

This means that the best-of-five series is tied at 2:2 and the deciding game for a place in the final will take place on Thursday in Berlin. The best Berlin scorers were Sterling Brown with 25 and Martin Hermannsson with 19 points.

As in the previous games, the game was intense from the start. The guests lost the ball a lot early on and so the Berlin team found themselves behind. Towards the end of the first quarter, however, Alba came into the game better and took the lead for the first time after winning the ball (24:22).

But the Niners always had a quick answer. The Berliners had a particularly hard time building up the game. Brown alone kept his team in the game with his points in the first half. But the capital city team allowed too many easy points. This allowed Chemnitz to pull ahead a little more clearly just before the break.

And after the break, the deficit even reached double figures for the first time (43:53). But Alba fought back, came back point by point and even took the lead again six and a half minutes before the end (77:75). And now the Berliners had the momentum on their side and won the game with a 12:1 run in the final phase.

The winner on Thursday will face FC Bayern Munich in the final series.
