When asked about the good game in the first game, coach Anton Gavel sees parallels to the series against Alba Berlin: “Congratulations to our players on this first step. When we were six or seven points behind in the second half, we still didn’t give up and answered correctly. Defensively we’ve upped the ante and created better throws up front. As in the series before it, it’s only the first game. We still remember exactly what happened back then in game two.”

Game 1 went to Ratiopharm Ulm in front of an opposing backdrop with an outstanding performance. Responsible for this were the well-known Caboclo and dos Santos, with plenty of support from the highly talented Núñez. At Bayern, especially later in the game, hardly anything came together offensively, so 69 points is an underground value for them and it would be surprising if this result wasn’t surpassed today. However, it lived up to expectations, as quite a few had suspected that Munich might lack the energy to hold their own against Ulm after the long season. The same finally happened to the Berliners in the first round of the playoffs.
