The semester has begun, thousands of students are new to the city and after the end of the lectures, many want one thing above all: to have fun. Seven tips for pubs and bars where an evening is guaranteed not to be boring.
Mrs. Bartels
Good cocktails and a cozy atmosphere can be found at Frau Bartels (Klenzestraße 51). The guests seem relaxed and friendly – as do the bartenders. Everyone feels right at home. Despite the loud music, everyone likes to chat, even with strangers. Since Ms. Bartels is no longer an insider tip, a reservation is always recommended.
Old Giesing
If you are new to the city, you should make a stop at Alt Giesing (Tegernseer Landstraße 93). The pub is right next to the tram tracks. The bar is hardly recognizable from the outside, but as soon as you enter, you are captivated by the exuberant atmosphere. There is a dartboard in the back part of the bar, where friends like to show their ambitious side. Cosy, relaxed and trendy.
Trump and Critical
True Munich feeling can be found in Trumpf and Kritisch (Feilitzschstrasse 14). The bar near the Münchner Freiheit is always well frequented. A reservation is recommended. In addition to good food, there is also freshly tapped Augustiner – do you need more? The name, Trumpf and Kritisch, has to do with a bid in the Watten card game. There is even a special edition of playing cards that can be obtained at the counter upon request.
Bikini center
The furnishings in Bikini Mitte (Josephspitalstrasse 17) are exceptional. The focus of the small bar is on the turquoise bar, where you can get something to eat as well as cocktails that don’t skimp on alcohol. For this reason, and also because of its good location between Sendlinger Tor and Stachus, the bar is a great place to pre-glow. The staff is also very friendly.
Flex
A beer and a game of table football? Off to Flex (Ringseisstrasse 11a). A wide flight of stairs leads to the alternative bar, whose walls are orange and covered in stickers. The counter is long. In the back there is a pool table, three table football, a dart board and three pinball machines. There’s something for everyone. It’s not for nothing that the Flex has been a popular meeting place for decades. Only rock is played.
bang full
Wheat beer with Blue Curaçao and soda. Ever tried? In the Bumsvoll (Zugspitzstraße 19) you can test the so-called Isar water. Located in the heart of Giesing, the bar is a popular place for a colorful crowd. The beautiful and cozy wood paneling and decoration are typical of a Bavarian Boazn.
kooks
One of the classically coolest bars in town is Kooks (Geyerstrasse 18). Yellow-washed walls, red processes, wooden bar stools and a fully stocked bar. Almost like something out of a movie. Artists regularly perform on the small stage opposite the bar. Everything from music to stand-up is represented. So the evenings never get boring.
