It looks like a globe, but you can hide alcohol inside: A truly unusual object was for sale at “Bares for Rares”. Horst Lichter was also interested – but had a different use.

Jens scratches goes “with a crying and a laughing eye” to “Bares for Rares”. The 45-year-old freight forwarder from Sennfeld would like to sell his globe. Horst Lichter is reminiscent of his own childhood: “We had something like that at home. But really cheap,” says the moderator. Jens Kratzer also has something in common with the globe: it was given to his grandfather in the 1950s, so it is a family heirloom.

But the copy for sale here is something special: you can open the globe and hide something inside, as Sven Deutschmanek demonstrates: there are six cognac glasses and a holder for a bottle. The expert mentions two well-known companies: Columbus Verlag as the manufacturer of the globe – and Dujardin as the manufacturer of the brandy that can be hidden inside. Deutschmanek estimates that it was made in the late 1950s. Unfortunately, the expert does not know whether the globe was actually produced for the market or was a promotional gift.

“Bares for Rares”: The desired price is too high

When Horst Lichter hears the seller’s desired price, he is surprised: scratches would like 500 to 600 euros. It’s not just the moderator who has his doubts: “We have to be realistic,” agrees Sven Deutschmanek, who puts the value in the region of 150 to 200 euros. And that’s pretty much right: Because the dealers are not willing to put more than 210 euros on the table for it. For this, Esther Ollick buys the secret hiding place for alcohol.

However, Horst Lichter would store something completely different in it, as he reveals: “I always hide the brittle bags at home,” says the moderator. “They take my wife away! They say that’s unhealthy.”
