Friendly, colorful and funny – that’s what the Nana sculptures look like. As fountain figures or sculptures in public spaces, they have been exuding their timeless, friendly hippie flair in many cities for decades. But these gentle giantesses are not that harmless and apolitical. In any case, this is the insight conveyed by the large retrospective of Nana creator Niki de Saint Phalle, which has just opened in Frankfurt and features around 100 works from all phases of her work.
