Studies will soon be written about the effects of the corona pandemic on people’s health, psyche and habits, as they have already begun. There may already be statistics on all those things that are now “to go” because almost everything was closed in lockdown.
Cocktails, snack plates, even Schäuferla, everything had become mobile. Behind the corona waves, waves of packaging waste sloshed across the country because there was all sorts of things to take away, but nobody was allowed to bring anything to clean. A setback for all those who have been fighting for years against the tiresome disposable cups.
To go or rather to stay there is the famous Schlenkerla in Bamberg, the smoked beer is drunk by locals and tourists alike in front of the traditional restaurant on Sandstrasse. This was forbidden for a while due to the corona, and it hit some people much harder than the closure of cinemas and hairdressers.
Now you can stand around again, but because you can still take all sorts of things with you, completely new worries arise as a result of anti-corona care. The landlord who runs the inn opposite the Schlenkerla and does a good deal with those who like to stand around in front of the Schlenkerla, but don’t want to drink the beer that tastes like smoked ham, gets to feel it. They can then make do with smoke-free beer or a wine spritzer from the neighbors.
Now, however, more and more people are apparently marching into the dining room who already have a beer in their hand or a kebab or ice cream, whatever is offered for sale from any window. He recently found a half-empty crate of beer on the toilet, the landlord told the local online portal, and some people even push the bottle into the hand of the staff so that they can dispose of it. Talking is mostly of no use.
So he takes action. A sign announces that you have to pay 25 euros if you take someone else’s drinks or food with you into the pub. There is also “To bring” – but in beer cellars and in some inns only when the kitchen is closed.
