According to information from the South German Newspaper Günter Sautter has been appointed Political Director at the Federal Foreign Office. The former head of the Department for International Order, the United Nations and Arms Control succeeds Tjorven Bellmann, who is moving to Canada as ambassador in the summer. Before moving to the headquarters of the Federal Foreign Office in January 2022, Sautter was Germany’s Deputy Permanent Representative at the United Nations headquarters in New York for one and a half years and currently also holds the office of Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control Issues.
