After the serious car accident near Bad Langensalza in Thuringia, the public prosecutor’s office is also investigating a 34-year-old occupant of the BMW that caused it. It is unclear who was behind the wheel. What is certain is that both suspects were drunk.
The alleged cause of the serious accident with seven dead in Thuringia was under the influence of alcohol. This is what the previous investigations indicated. However, it is currently unclear whether he was actually behind the wheel of the car that caused the accident, said the deputy head of the Mühlhausen public prosecutor’s office, Ulf Walther, of the DPA news agency on Tuesday.
Investigations after an accident in Bad Langensalza also against 34-year-olds
The investigations are now also directed against a 34-year-old who was previously believed to be a passenger in the car that collided with two other vehicles in oncoming traffic.

It had previously been assumed that a 45-year-old was driving the accident car. Both men are currently in the hospital with serious injuries. Testimonies from first responders, the evaluation of traces and the statement of the 45-year-old now put the 34-year-old under suspicion. “But the investigations are not yet complete,” emphasized Walther. The 34-year-old himself has not yet been questioned. According to Walther, however, it is clear that both men were “under the considerable influence of alcohol” and neither of them had a driver’s license.
