Away game in Rotterdam: Union Berlin criticizes police operations

Union criticizes the use of the police

For its part, the Bundesliga club announced that there had been chaotic scenes before the entrance to the guest block. 2,400 Union fans actually wanted to be in the De Kuip stadium, but many were not allowed to enter the arena for a long time. Hundreds of people in front of the stadium gates not only complained of extremely long waiting times, but also of excessive police operations and arbitrary arrests, it said. Followers reported targeted attacks and aggressive officials on social media.

Union spokesman: “Overall unacceptable”

“From our point of view, it is a catastrophic situation when several hundred people with tickets are not in the stadium by half-time. Then something can be wrong,” said Union communications chief Christian Arbeit after the incident: “There are obviously pictures of numerous injured people very tough police operations.
