The incident had provoked horrified reactions. The man was eventually fired from his employer and arrested by the police. Now Air India has also imposed a fine.

The airline has issued a four-month flight ban to a man who allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger on an Air India plane. This was reported by the Indian news agency ANI, citing an airline employee.

The case has sparked widespread outrage across Indian media and social media, and Air India has been accused of not acting quickly enough.

At the end of November, the drunk man is said to have urinated on an elderly woman during a flight from New York to Delhi in business class. A corresponding report was made to the police weeks later, local media reported. The woman said that her clothes, shoes and luggage were soaked with urine. The cabin crew gave her airline pajamas and socks and as an alternative seat she was given a smaller crew seat instead of an empty first class seat.

The man’s employer said he was fired because of the incident. He was also later arrested by the police in Bengaluru. Air India said at the time that there was an internal investigation, that the affected cabin crew were not currently included in the roster and that the guidelines for alcohol sales on board were also being reviewed. They would also have refunded the ticket price to the woman.
